My Background

Catherine Reynolds

My interest in taking care of the body started when I was in high school as I attended and interpreted doctor's appointments for my Deaf mother. Through her journey I often wondered: what are ways to prevent and/or intersect musculoskeletal pain and the need for surgery? In college I played volleyball and started understanding the vast need for taking careof the physical body through stretching, strengthening, and mindful movement to prevent and rehab injuries. In 2007, I graduated from Massage Therapy School in Oklahoma and quickly dove into continuing educationworkshops to widen my knowledge and skill set to start changing lives.

As my journey continued I realized health is an ever-changing, ever-balancing practice. If I am guiding people to heal, it is imperative to lead by example. That set me on my mind, body, and spiritual journey. If we want to heal physically, we need to look at the whole of what we are: physical body, mental body, emotional body, and spiritual body.

This led me to learning how to take care of myself. I have found that biannual cleansing and habit evolution are great tools for health and well-being. I have seen and felt the impact of my positive lifestyle changes, and now I am set on sharing what I have learned with the Deaf Community. In addition to massage, I also lead programs in Cleansing (detoxing) and Healthy Habits in American Sign Language.

My Approach

The body is amazingly intelligent. Working with the body requires a heightened awareness as well as an understanding of various types of approaches. Some bodies need a gentle touch to invite change, whereas others might need a firmer approach. Through conversation with you and a body scan, we can determine what would be the most beneficial approach for you that day. As I begin to understand your body, I will share my findings and suggest things you can do at home to feel good for as long as possible.
